All Japan Todofuken Kendo Taikai

Yesterday was the All Japan Todofuken Taikai in Osaka, and I went along to watch.

The Todofuken Taikai is one of the 'big' events in the Kendo calendar as it is basically the team version of the All Japans. However, the team make-up has special rules, which can be seen here.

The Taikai itself was great to watch, and particularly with results being slightly different to what is 'usually' expected - particularly with the 'powerhouse' Osaka, and their team (containing current World Champ, Teramoto) losing to Aichi in the first round. Then Kanagawa (featuring the ever-popular Shodai) losing to Hokkaido.

Final Results were -

First Place - Tokyo
Second Place - Fukuoka
Third - Ibaraki and Hokkaido

I took a selection of videos on the day, but unfortunately as you can't get really close to the action, I had to use the digital zoom, so the quality is a little poor. I'll see if I can get hold of a better camera for next time! View them on the Youtube channel to see them better!
